Wow. We were really lucky to score some tickets to the Taylor Swift concert last night (thanks Jemily), and we had an awesome time! Not only were the tickets in a box, which was awesome, but halfway through the show, Taylor showed up directly below us and sang “Hey Stephen”. Seriously, we could have jumped out of the box and landed next to her. Too bad our camera was pretty much dead, because we only got two pictures the whole night.

There was a really cool part of the concert between songs where everyone just screamed for like, five minutes. She just stood there, so totally awed by the amount of noise pouring from that place. Or at least she looked awed. Maybe that happens everywhere. But she said “Dallas, I can promise you, that for the rest of my life I’m never gonna forget this moment.” It was kind of cool.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcsBogYfP54

Taylor is a really emotional performer. You can tell her heart went into every song she wrote, because she FEELS every lyric in her facial expression and body language. It made for a really entertaining concert. She has a seriously crazy life, but you can tell she honestly LOVES what she does. It was really fun!

On Tuesday Andrea and I went to the Secondhand Serenade Concert at the House of Blues. We went with Jenny and Michael who are great friends of ours from high school. We went to Chuy’s for dinner which was awesome. If you haven’t been here you need to go the food is amazing and the creamy jalapeno dip is so yummy. After dinner we went to the HOB and we got there at 7:45. By this time we thought we would have missed the opening band and the second one might be on stage. This was basically the plan since we had never heard of the first two bands. Unfortunately when we got there no one was on stage and we had to wait until 8:00 for the concert to start.

The first band was The Rust. They are a start up band from Nashville but they were pretty good. Their bass player was very strange. He iterated between two movement patterns. He was either a very stiff robot or a slithering snake. I know those are too different extremes but he was very peculiar. Next time you see me ask Andrea or I to give you an impression.

The next band was Evan Taubenfeld and he was terrible. He talked to much, used the f-word like crazy, and took way too much time. The third band was Parachute. I was very impressed with these guys. I had not heard of them until Andrea did a little pre-concert research. Andrea listened to some of their songs on their website and told me they were good. They put on a good show and I would definitely go see them again. I have included one of their music videos below of my favorite song called Mess I Made.

Unfortunately due to the time it took between acts it was 10:45 before Secondhand Serenade came on stage. I know that this may be a big shocker to some of you but Andrea and I like sleeping. We were getting tired and we were feeling bad for leaving Grandma Norrie home with the baby all night so we didn’t stay for the whole show. We stayed for about 25 minutes of Secondhand Serenade’s set and it was great. I love that band and knew they would be fun to watch. Unfortunately the lead singer doesn’t ever open his eyes when he sings so he was very strange to watch live.

We had a great time at the show and it was fun to catch up with Jenny and Michael. Here is a photo from the concert, I circled us in yellow.

Concert Picture

If you know of any concerts coming up let us know. We are always open to going to concerts.

So last week my little brother and I went to the House of Blues Dallas to see some awesome bands at the bamboozle roadshow. It was my first ‘rock’ concert, so I didn’t know what to expect but I liked 3 of the bands so I thought it would be fun. When I was leaving the house I was wearing my glasses and Andrea told me to take them off because I looked too nerdy to go to a rock concert. Jake thought about wearing a vest over his t-shirt but decided that I would make fun of him so he didn’t. As it turned out the vest would have been fine because we were some of the few people that didn’t have fluorescent colored silk screen t-shirts on with a vest, bandanna, or 1950′s era hat! Although I felt out of place because the average age of the people at the concert was about 16, the concert turned out to be awesome and Jake and I had a blast. We the Kings totally stole the show, they were amazing. Forever the Sickest Kids was good as well but they were so loud that Jake and I couldn’t even hear each other and my ears were ringing for the two days following the show. Even with all of that I would go again in a heartbeat, I would just try to dress a little more hip… Here are some videos from the concert:

I was a bridesmaid at my friend’s wedding at the end of May. It was a very stressful weekend for me, not knowing if at 16 weeks pregnant I would fit into the tight dress I had measured for the summer before, but it all worked out fine.

Zac and I bought a piano! It is a Kawai upright, 44 1/2″, ebony polish. This is what it looks like, and it’s going to look so much better once we get it into our house!

Our new Piano!

Zac took my family to Ham and Eggs, a breakfast place that boasts of hubcab-sized pancakes. So of course my husband orders the big stack of pancakes, thinking we’d all share them…

We tried to share them, but this is as far as we got. We took the rest home, and it still took us 3 days to finish these beastly pancakes.

Cami came home for the week! Dad is wearing his In N Out “Utah” shirt. He was so incredulous that In N Out would open a restaurant in Utah that he drove all the way down to St George (they were on vacation in Salt Lake/Provo) just to get a T-shirt. Then he wore it and bragged about it all the next week.

By far the most fun part of the concert was Juliana and her two friends, who made signs saying “Future Mrs. Archuleta” and other things. They went crazy when David A. hit the stage. I just had to capture their excitement. Plus I couldn’t really get a great picture of the stage, but the 15 year old girls to my right were plenty of excitement for those around us.

This weekend we went to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert, starring The King’s Singers! Kami and Matt came down from Logan and invited us to go with them and it was great! it was really fun, and we were awed by the organ solos (their foot pedalling was amazing) and the decorations. Afterwards, we tried to find a place to eat dessert, and since everything nearby was closed, we ended up walking around Temple Square and eventually down the street to the Gateway mall. My legs were frozen due to the 15 degree wintery night. But it was fun and we loved hanging out with Kami and Matt. Thanks guys!

Saturday we babysat for Geoff and Rebecca, and I got to see my husband enthralled with a Fischer Price train set for 2 hours. The boys liked it as well:)

Sunday we had Dan and Rachel over for dinner and a football game. We watched Tony Romo throw away a win as he tried to impress his newest celeb diva, Jessica Simpson. We think he should dump her. Ooh, and Dan and Rachel brought over these cookies that were really good. I recommend them. They are Nestle Toll house Turtle cookies. Chocolate chip, caramel goodness in a cookie. Loved it!
