This was the best/worst game EVER. Coppell was ahead the entire game, but it was seriously really evenly matched and Trinity didn’t trail by much. Then in the last 3 seconds, they scored the touchdown to go up by ONE point. It was so sad! It was such a fun game, but alas, Coppell didn’t come away with the win. If they had, they would have been 2 games away from the State Championship, which is a pretty big deal here in Texas. Oh well, maybe next year.
Last night we went to the Coppell High School Homecoming Game with our friends the Brights. My mom makes mums for high school students and wanted to make a mum for Addie and a garter for her “date” Bode. When we got to the game Addie and Bode held hands while walking to the stadium and all of the ladies we passed thought they were the cutest kids ever.
Walking into the Game Holding Hands
Once we got seated the compliments didn’t stop, but the kids got ready by putting their guns up for the kickoff and cheering like everyone else.
Guns up for Kickoff
Once the Cowboys scored, which they did a lot, the kids kept their school spirit alive by clapping during the fight song.
It was a fun night and we were glad we could spend it with friends. Final score Coppell Cowboys 52, Dallas Jesuit 7.
Andrea just told me very depressing news. I am scheduled to fly to Hawaii for work on Super Bowl Sunday. I will be flying when the game is on. I am so sad and I didn’t even realize it until right now. I am not going to be able to see my hero Peyton Manning beat the pants off the N’awlins Saints. And I am not going to see Austin Collie (BYU almost-alum) win a Super Bowl in his rookie season. Looks like I am going to have to bit torrent the game and watch it on my computer. This stinks.
At least I can eat pancakes with coconut syrup while I watch to ease the pain!
I received this in an email today and it made me laugh. I do not know who wrote it or where it came from but it was worthy of a post. After watching the BCS bowl selections last night I was a little dumbfounded as to their logic. Reading this little excerpt made the whole process make a lot more scene.
After determining the Big-12 championship game participants the BCS computers were put to work on other major contests and today the BCS declared Germany to be the winner of World War II.
“Germany put together an incredible number of victories beginning with the annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland and continuing on into conference play with defeats of Poland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands. Their only losses came against the US and Russia; however considering their entire body of work–including an incredibly tough Strength of Schedule–our computers deemed them worthy of the #1 ranking.”
Questioned about the #4 ranking of the United States the BCS commissioner stated “The US only had two major victories–Japan and Germany. The computer models, unlike humans, aren’t influenced by head-to-head contests–they consider each contest to be only a single, equally-weighted event.”
German Chancellor Adolph Hiter said “Yes, we lost to the US; but we defeated #2 ranked France in only 6 weeks.” Herr Hitler has been criticized for seeking dramatic victories to earn ‘style points’ to enhance Germany’s rankings. Hitler protested “Our contest with Poland was in doubt until the final day and the conditions in Norway were incredibly challenging and demanded the application of additional forces.”
The French ranking has also come under scrutiny. The BCS commented ” France had a single loss against Germany and following a preseason #1 ranking they only fell to #2.”
Japan was ranked #3 with victories including Manchuria, Borneo and the Philippines.
I know that we cannot do a playoff, due to school schedules and other various things, but this BCS stuff is ridiculous. Why is Utah #6 playing #4 Alabama when #3 Texas is playing #10 Ohio State? I would think that #3 would play #4, but apparently not. Go Deutschland!
