Our Weekend with a Rented Lens

For those of you who don’t know, I have a secret passion for photography.  I don’t talk about it much because I don’t think I am that good but I really love doing it.  A few years ago my in-laws gave Andrea and me a DSLR for Christmas.  Since then I have been enthralled with taking pictures and reading lots of photography blogs to learn more.  I have been wanting to improve our photos for a long time and since photography is one of the areas where you definitely get what you pay for I have been looking at new lenses.  The problem is the lens I want is $1,300 .  Ya you are right, that is a LOT of money.  So instead of spending the money on it I have just been lusting over other peoples equipment and dreaming about a big promotion to pay for my hobbies.  This weekend I rented this dream lens to give it a little test drive.  I thought I would share some of the photos we took over the weekend.  Sorry that most of the photos are of Addie, but she is the only model I know.

As you can see from the number of photos that I felt were worth of sharing on the blog I LOVED the lens.  I guess I will have to start saving those pennies until I can afford my own.  I hope you enjoyed all of the photos as much as I liked shooting and editing them.

Wedding Baby

So yesterday my little sister got married at the Dallas Texas Temple.  The weather was great, a little windy, but the photos turned out great.  Adelyn was so cute the whole time and she was being such a doll that we took lots of photos.  We even got a photo of her new teeth.   We are going to Houston today for another reception so we might get more photos there.  This time we are going to try to take photos of the bride and groom and not just the grand kids.

Bookworm Jr.

When I was little, I loved to read. I read so much that my siblings tease me about being a bookworm. Still, to this day. I am not ashamed of it, I think reading is a great way to learn and grow, or just unwind at the end of the day.  Now that I am out of college, I have more time to read for pleasure, which I love. I am trying to mix up the reading for entertainment with reading to learn things.

I want Adelyn to enjoy reading as well, when the time comes. So every now and then, I “read” her a book. She likes to look at the pictures, and grabs at the pages a lot. Yesterday, I handed her this book called “Barnyard Dance” and set her up on the couch. You can see what happened next:

We are so proud of our little bookworm!

Update on Wit’s End: Adelyn is sleeping very well these days. We think the monstrous week was a result of TEETHING. Because last week I found two little teeth popping up! She is getting her two bottom front teeth at the same time, but she likes to hide them with her tongue so no one can see them. When we get pictures, we’ll post them. Oh, and she loves grabbing her toes and trying to sit up on her own. We love our little girl!

Our Beautiful Baby

I know that I am a proud daddy but I have been simply amazed lately at how beautiful our daughter is.  When Andrea and I got pregnant we talked a number of times about how we were worried about having an ugly baby.  It happens; sometimes beautiful couples have ugly babies.  I know that parents always think their babies are cute, but people stop and tell us all the time how beautiful she is.  Not only is she cute to look at, but she also has such a great personality.  For example, Adelyn has this little orange monkey that came with one of her baby toys.  Whenever she sees the monkey she starts smiling and more often than not, she starts giggling.  Also if you hold her in front of a mirror she will look at herself, and then after a few seconds, she will start smiling and laughing.  It is so fun! Because we just can’t get enough of her we have been taking lots of photos recentlyand some of them turned out so well we wanted to share them with you.  Leave us a comment and let us know which one is your favorite!
