Adelyn has been such an angel for the past two weeks, going to sleep without a fight, just calmly sucking her thumb and falling asleep in her crib. On Saturday, all of a sudden this blissful period came to a crashing halt. She will NOT go to sleep. I put her down when she acts tired (like usual), and she is calm for minute or two, but then starts to fuss, and then it turns into all out, full blown, someone-is-strangling-me screaming. I go in, try to calm her down, give her kisses, give her a pacifier to suck on (which she promptly takes out and starts screaming again), and then leave. This has always worked before, but now, she is not having any of it.

I called the doctor to see if maybe she has an ear infection, but of course they can’t tell you over the phone, so they said if she has symptom A, B, C, etc, bring her in. Except she has no symptoms. Just anger. And stamina. This girl can scream for a long time. Seriously.

Last night Zac put her to bed at 8. She fell asleep, but woke up at 9 screaming. I went in and rocked her back to sleep. She then slept till 9:45 and woke up screaming. We went in again and tried to rock her, but she kept wriggling and writhing, so I’m pretty sure she didn’t want to be rocked. We finally put her in her swing, thinking that the rhythmic motion would soothe her. It did, and she finally slept from 10:30pm to 7:30am.  What is the deal? I am honestly at a loss. Any suggestions?
